WINNER & Halloween Spider Wreath

I'm so excited to start sharing some Halloween and fall fun!  :)  Let's kick off our eight week party with a winner!

Michele @ The Scrap Shoppe, is our winner of the spooky spider wreath!  :) Congratulations, Michele!!!  It's going to look perfectly spooky hanging on your front door!

If you didn't win, no worries because we are about to learn how to make this beauty.  Remember my inspiration was a wreath done by Martha Stewart in 2008.  I've tried to find a picture of it on her web site, but I've had no luck...just trust that our wreath is just as cute...and more affordable!

Here is what you'll need:  wreath form (Dollar Tree), Mod Podge, craft brush, glue gun and glue sticks, scissors, plastic spiders (Dollar Tree), glitter, and Spanish moss.  Not pictured:  craft paint, jute, and a wooden sign .  Disregard the yarn.  I decided not to use it. :)

To start, brush Mod Podge on each of your spiders and dust them with black glitter.  I used a package of 24 spiders.

Next, start gluing your Spanish moss onto the wreath form squishing and shaping as you go.  I used one large bag from Hobby Lobby and half of a small bag from the Dollar Tree.  This part is very messy.  I recommend working outside or putting a large garbage sack on the ground for easy clean up.

Cover the entire wreath with the moss.  I love the volume you get with the moss.

Paint your wooden sign.  I got this one at Hobby Lobby for .99 cents! :)  I used a combination of cream, brown, gray, and black craft paint to achieve the weathered effect (does anyone else do pizza for crafting nights? LOL!).

When the sign was dry, I used Mod Podge to adhere "Happy Halloween" to the front.  Our drill is currently at a friend's house, so I hot glued jute onto the back of the sign and then tied it to the back of the wreath form.  I put globs of hot glue over the knots to secure them.

Does anyone else totally love the way the back of this wreath looks?  When I turned it over, I instantly saw another "to do" project.  I love how the wreath is embedded in the moss and I think it would look gorgeous with some huge, fall colored sunflowers and ribbon!

Now simply hot glue the spiders onto the wreath, and you are done! :)  How simple was that?

Hang on your front door or a wall in your home, and admire! :)

Spooky, sassy, and cost effective...my kind of Halloween craft.  I think I spent about $5.00 on this wreath.  I had most of the supplies on hand!
